LOUISVILLE, KY — September 4, 2026 — Glenview Trust Chief Investment Officer Bill Stone appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box Asia to discuss the outlook for U.S. monetary policy, inflation, and financial markets.
During the segment, Stone addressed the stronger-than-expected U.S. employment report released Friday and its implications for the Federal Reserve. While acknowledging the resilience of the labor market, he noted that forthcoming inflation data may play a more significant role in shaping the Fed’s next policy decision. Stone emphasized that the trajectory of core inflation remains a critical factor for policymakers as they evaluate whether interest rates should remain unchanged or move higher.
Stone also discussed the relationship between interest rates, earnings growth, and market valuations, noting that continued corporate earnings growth can help offset the effects of higher bond yields and term premiums.
“We continue to believe that inflation trends will be a key determinant of the Federal Reserve’s next move,” said Stone. “While labor market data remain important, upcoming inflation reports may provide more clarity on whether policymakers are making continued progress toward their inflation objectives.”
The interview was conducted by CNBC anchors Sri Jegarajah and Mandy Drury.
